Journalists thrive on mastering a diverse set of multimedia skills. From capturing compelling photographs to crafting engaging audio and video content, I’ve loved refining and expanding these abilities over time.

Photojournalism is storytelling through images, capturing moments that words can’t fully convey. I've grown to love photography in my years as a student journalist, and I love nothing more than to be on the field at games or the floor during assemblies, capturing the best shots possible. Every photo I take aims to complement the story, drawing the audience in and adding depth. For me, it’s not just about technical skill—it’s about highlighting the moments that matter.

At Pleasant Valley, sports aren’t just a part of life—they’re at the heart of it. As such, us journalists are sure to have photographers at every game, meet and match to capture the energy of the crowd and athletes we call Spartans. Our women's athletics at PV are particularly a force to be reckoned with, having won 7 state titles in the past year. It has been an honor preserving their moments of triumph—whether it’s a last-second goal or a victory celebration—and showcasing the excellence that defines PV sports.

But as a proud journalism student at PV, I know well that there is more to photography that action shots of our best sports teams. It's important to me that every student group at PV gets the attention they deserve, a value that has been reflected in The Spartan Shield under my leadership. From photographing our star athletes to the performance arts, photojournalism gives every PV student gets their turn in the spotlight. Below are more photos I have taken of various student groups, including the Sparkle's Cheer Team, the boy's swim team and PV's own feature twirler Estelle Treiber.

In this podcast, my fellow environmentalist Katie Haas and I discuss social media's affect on sustainable fashion and the toll of micro-trends on contributing to fast fashion. We touch on the social affects of social media aesthetics that encourage readers to spend endless money and time curating new looks to fit the trends rather than having one's own identity.

I had the honor of creating a video story to celebrate the 50th anniversary of girl's basketball at Pleasant Valley High School, documenting the success of our basketball team 50 years after its creation. We had the opportunity to interview the founding members of the girl's basketball team in 1974 and the women who ensure the team's survival and success today.
